In 2006, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences for the first time employed apprentices in the field of Biology. Thanks to their above-average performance, both apprentices were allowed to shorten their vocational training period, completing their apprenticeships as biology lab assistants within as little as three years in the summer of 2008.

The Bonn/Rhine-Sieg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) recognised this outstanding exam result, too: in November 2009, Wojciech Leszynski won the Chamber's Best Apprentice Award; thus, at the same time, the University of Applied Sciences was honoured for its outstanding performance as a provider of vocational training.

Training superviser Dr. Andreas Pansky attended the prize-giving ceremony to represent the training supervisers at the Department of Applied Natural Sciences, Dr. Barbara Roitzheim, Prof. Dr. Edda Tobiasch und Claudia Kleinfeld. In 2010, the University of Applied Sciences is employing apprentices for several occupations again. You can view the job advertisements on the web pages of the University as of mid-December.
