The International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences launched its operations at the beginning of the current winter semester and immediately drew attention to its activities by awarding a prize. Students of the Master’s degree programme in NGO Management were invited to apply for the 2011 IZNE Social Business Award. Within the framework of a seminar on “Social Investment and Good Governance”, they were required to devise their own ideas and to plan the implementation of the related projects - such as the founding of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) or the advancement of our University’s Teaching for Development (T4D) initiative.

The award ceremony for the 2011 IZNE Social Business Award will be held today, i.e. on 30 September 2011, at 16.00 in Room 030 on our Rheinbach campus.

The second year group of students enrolled in NGO Management submitted a total of nine applications for the contest - either as teams or as individuals. The projects will be presented today within the framework of the award ceremony. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The first prize is endowed with € 500 and will be presented by Prof. Dr Wiltrud Terlau, the IZNE Founding Director.
