Springer Journals: Publish and Read

Friday 27 March 2020
Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences will participate in a second open-access transformation contract for electronic journals.

Last year, many German universities and research institutions started the DEAL consortium with the open access transformation of Wiley Online Journals. Since January 2020 there is also a Publish and Read agreement with Springer Verlag, in which H-BRS will participate. All subscription journals (so-called hybrid journals) of the publishers Springer, Palgrave, Adis and Macmillan are affected.

The articles of these journals are available in the H-BRS university network. Members of the university can also use the library's remote access. And corresponding H-BRS authors of accepted articles in hybrid journals can now publish open access at no additional cost. The procedure is called "Springer Open Choice" by the publisher.

From August 2020, publishing in pure open-access journals will also be possible. All authors affiliated with H-BRS will receive a 20 percent discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) in SpringerOpen and BMC journals. Please note that this publication fee will be paid from your own budget (possibly from project funds).

Excluded from these agreements are all Nature Journals, Magazines (e.g. Scientific American, Spektrum der Wissenschaft) and some technical journals (e.g. ATZ, MTZ).
