A lively start-up scene is important for a national economy. With their start-ups, founders challenge established companies and put them under constant pressure to leverage efficiency potential. In addition, start-ups create jobs for themselves and often for others as well. They contribute to the technological renewal of a country's economy and thus to improving its competitiveness. People with an interest in starting a business should therefore be encouraged to realize their ideas and the necessary support should be made available to them.

Entrepreneurship is an important field of competence of CENTIM and it includes the promotion of entrepreneurial thinking and acting. Our goal is to strengthen the personal development and innovative power of the founders and to support and advise them in the best possible way in their start-up projects. Within the framework of diverse offers for start-up awareness, start-up qualification and start-up coaching, we would like to provide all-embracing support for start-ups from the university in order to strengthen the start-up culture in the region.

SUPRA - Start-up Programme Rheinbach Sankt Augustin

With the "Start-up Programme Rheinbach Sankt Augustin" (SUPRA), Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg initiates a new project for the promotion of start-ups at and within the university within the framework of the funding program "EXIST Potentiale" of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

SUPRA aims to encourage potential founders of the H-BRS to realize innovative business ideas in order to increase the number of successful start-ups at the university and in the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg region. In addition, we would like to become one, or rather the central contact point at H-BRS, where all start-up activities converge. All already existing as well as numerous new support offers of the university will be bundled in the future under the roof of the "Start-up-Manufaktur", visibly. The goal is to offer comprehensive support to entrepreneurs in order to break down the barriers to starting a business.

The target group of SUPRA are students, employees of the H-BRS and alumni of the university who are interested in founding a company, want to start a company or already run a young company.

In order to provide a comprehensive start-up offer and to develop a strong ecosystem for knowledge- and technology-based start-ups at the university as well as in the entire region, the H-BRS establishes a central contact point within the framework of the SUPRA programme: the Start-up-Manufaktur. In order to ensure optimal start-up support, the central fields of action of start-up awareness, start-up qualification and start-up coaching converge here.

Potential founders from the university area are encouraged to start up through various event formats and information events, and entrepreneurial independence is presented as an attractive image of the future. For this purpose, the Start-up-Manufaktur offers numerous workshops, idea competitions, founder round tables, speed dating, lectures and practical projects.

For entrepreneurs, successfully realizing start-up projects also means having sufficient professional know-how at their disposal. Through the interface work with business and science, a comprehensive qualification offer is also provided for those interested in founding a company.

Courses - from supplementary subjects to practical projects - are held at both the bachelor's and master's levels to further expand and strengthen the entrepreneurial know-how of those interested.

Overview of courses on entrepreneurship

In addition to the event formats and teaching formats offered, the entrepreneurial knowledge can also be further expanded directly via the Start-up Manufaktur website.

There, important terms of the start-up scene are explained in the context of a Founding- FAQ, as well as initial information on important steps in business model development.

Start-up coaching

In order to offer those interested in founding a company the best possible advice and support during all phases of the start-up process, various options for individual start-up advice and other coaching services are also made available.

Within the scope of general start-up consulting, students, alumni or even employees of the H-BRS are supported and encouraged by start-up scouts in all questions concerning their start-up project.

Furthermore, potential founders also have access to various funding opportunities in the form of start-up scholarships, for which they can apply. In particular, the EXIST start-up scholarship of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the NRW start-up scholarship of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of NRW offer great opportunities for financial and professional support in this regard.

Overview of support programmes

The range of start-up consulting services is supplemented by networking within the start-up network. Through cooperation with many successful companies and personalities from the regional startup ecosystem, there is a strong exchange on startup-relevant topics and founders receive further support from relevant partners for specific concerns.

Start-up Development (MBA)

A new master's degree programme in Start-up Development (MBA) also gives students interested in founding a company the opportunity to realize their own idea and learn the basics of start-up founding in a practical way. Students can build up their own company step by step during the course of their studies through a semester-long start-up and innovation project. The Start-up Development (MBA) programme thus offers the unique opportunity to combine the development of one's own business idea with a master's degree.
