Four-One-Model

The semesters of the bachelors´ courses of study have a special structure to improve the autonomous working of the students. Therefor the semesters are parted into sequences of four weeks of lectures followed by a practical orientated "block-week". This concept is named Four-One-Model.

The normal lecture weeks contain of a mixture of lectures, exercises and seminars. During the "block-week" the students then get the opportunity to work individually on certain projects to solve a given problem or exercise.

Within the first two semesters per day one module will be repeated in training tasks. The students get the time to work on these tasks and to compare and discuss their results at the end of the day. From the third semester on the students work on an ongoing project they choose for the whole semerster. During the project week they get the time to go on working in groups and have to present their results at the end of the week. An advantage of this procedure is to convey techniques of project management und presentation skills at the same time.

In 2011 the Four-One-Model got the innovation price of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
