For the fourth time a group of Masters Students took part in the University Relations Programm of Software AG, an international market leader in various fields of digital business solutions. As part of the course „SOA/BPM Integration Project“ held by Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Buck-Emden and research associate M. Sc. Markus Stuhm, the students took their opportunity to gain insights into one of the big players' everyday business.
During the project participants took over various roles such as project coordinator, developer, tester, administrator and client, which provided them with practical experience in an SOA-environment (Service-oriented architecture).
Developing a modern campus management system for a fictitous client (Almamater University), the team used Software AGs various professional tools such as CentraSite, Designer or the Rules Engine. Participants went through all stages of modern project management (Analysis, Planning and Development).

Students regarded the field trip at the end of the winter semester as the highlight of the course: The group presented their results to Mr. Jürgen Powik (Senior Director University Relations Software AG) who was impressed by the outcome. In addition to the central requirements of the University Relations Program, the students had added some extra features such as facility management. At the end of the presentation, a CD with all requirement engineering specifications was handed over to Mr. Powik.
All participants received a certificate to attest their practical experience with the SOA and BPM tools used during the project.
