Preparation of an internship abroad
Spending time abroad for a study semester or practical experience is a valuable enrichment, both personally and professionally. But you should also be well prepared and our university supports you in your preparation. Subsequently, we would like to give you important guidelines, so that you can prepare for your stay as well as possible and so that you can respond better to unforeseen occurrences. However, the responsibility for keeping in mind the points below and thereby for a successful stay lies solely with you and not with the university.
By funding the programme PROMOS, the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (DAAD) enables Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg to distribute scholarships for shorter stays outside of Europe, for which both students and graduates can apply.
Through the programme Erasmus+, funded by the European Commission, the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg can support internships and study periods at Erasmus+ partner universities in Europe.
The local committee of the student organisation IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) arranges and distributes paid internships worldwide.
Finding a suitable internship
While the search for a suitable internship generally is in your own hands, we can provide you with advice on how and where to look. It can be useful to have a look at the document "Useful Websites", which contains links to websites with information regarding internships and preparation in German and English. Some departments also offer internship databases for their students.
Preparation of your stay abroad
Information regarding the intercultural preparation for your stay abroad, safety, health, etc. can be found in the document "Fact sheet Stay Abroad".
