Second Joint Workshop on Advanced Teaching Methods

Digitalisation and internationalisation in higher education plays a substantial role for students as well as for faculty staff. Following the success of the First Collaborative Workshop in 2021, the H-BRS and Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU, China) jointly held the Second International Workshop on Advanced Teaching Methods in November 2022.

Opening Ceremony Workshop 2022

At the Opening Ceremony of the Workshop, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bode (Vice President International Affairs and Diversity, H-BRS) and Prof. Dr. Shuangchen Ruan (President Shenzhen Technology University, SZTU) addressed welcome notes to participants and distinguished guests.  Experiences and prospects were shared at the Opening Ceremony by Prof. Dr. Iris Groß (Vice Dean EMT, Director, Centre for Teaching Development and Innovation (ZIEL)), Prof. Dr. Dirk Reith (Director, Institute of Technology, Resource and Energy-Efficient Engineering (TREE)), Ms. Andrea Schröder (Director, Ziel), Dr. Zhanlu Ma-Högemeier (Coordinator China Cooperation H-BRS, International Office), Prof. Dr. Franz Raps (Dean, College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, SZTU), Prof. Dr. Holger Haldenwang (Dean, Business School, SZTU), Prof. Siyu Zeng (Director, International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office, SZTU) and Ms. Qianxiu Lyu (International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office, SZTU).

Online Workshop with Shenzhen Technology University - Final Slide

The workshop focussed on teaching as a way of changing the mind and learning as construction of knowledge. The H-BRS expert team in Didactics worked with 24 SZTU participants to examine new teaching approaches and intended learning outcomes in regards to neurodidactics.

The young professors, lecturers and postdocs from SZTU received certificates for their successful participation in the workshop. The collaborative workshop is going to be continued as an annually occurring event, in order to closely connect German and Chinese teachers as well to strengthen the important partnership between H-BRS and SZTU.
