German-Namibian Conference in Hennef

The Department of Social Insurance, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, and the Polytechnic of Namibia will hold an international conference entitled "Occupational Health and Safety in Namibia and Germany".

The symposium is the result of a student exchange between the universities during the last month. Five students from each university visited their guest country for two weeks. As a result of the exchange the students got to know each other’s countries and their conventions concerning work safety and health insurance. That is why they were able to compare and analyse the situations in the different regions.

The participants of the international conference have now put these experiences together and are able to present new ideas and possible solutions: The students and professors will give 13 lectures on the symposium´s main topics and related concerns, such as industry, infrastructure and communication in the two countries.

Additionally, the student exchange and the conference embody one of the first steps towards a scientific cooperation between the Polytechnic of Namibia and the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. The two universities already signed a cooperation agreement last summer in order to share and spread their knowledge and experience.

The conference will take place on Friday, 1st June, at 9.00 a.m. in the assembly hall on Campus Hennef. The lectures will be held in English.
