IMEA in Silicon Valley

Tuesday 26 August 2014

From 15 to 21 March, 20 German editors-in-chief and media managers will be on the trail of innovative companies and new business models in California. As was the case last year, this group of managers, organised by Annette Milz, editor-in-chief of "mediummagazin", is going on a trip to San Francisco and Silicon Valley together with staff members from the Institute for Media Research and Development (IMEA).

The tour has been prepared and organised by IMEA Director Andreas Schümchen and Jennifer Schwanenberg, research associate at the IMEA, in collaboration with Annette Milz and Ulrike Langer, a journalist living in Seattle.

The visiting agenda includes, apart from such big businesses as Google, Facebook and Twitter, emerging internet companies such as SoundCloud and Yelp and a large number of promising start-ups. The list of 22 places to visit also encompasses incubators and venture-capital companies.

The participants in the trip include representatives from such publishing houses as Axel Springer AG, Spiegel Online, DuMont, "Rhein-Zeitung" and "Rheinische Post".
