Since 2010 the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia offers a Middle East scholarship program for master students and PhDs not only from Israel and Palestine but also from Jordan. The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) is pleased to welcome Siwar Al-Talafhah who applied successfully for the scholarship this year.

Typically, more than 100 scholarship place offers are available of whom 15 and 20 are realized each year. As the last years, the H-BRS was the only University of Applied Sciences that, along with the Universities of Düsseldorf and Münster as well as the Forschungszentrum Jülich, was successful.

Siwar Al-Talafhah is a Master student of biotechnology in her second year and switched the Yarmouk University of Irbid, Jordan, with the Rheinbach campus of the H-BRS. She would like to take her three month stay as an opportunity to gain experience in handling stem cells and to deepen her lab skills in Prof. Edda Tobiasch's lab. On Thursday, 21st of August, Siwar, Professor Tobiasch and her supervising PhD student Dorothee Schipper are invited to join the Welcome Meeting of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Minister Svenja Schulze will welcome the scholarship students and their supervisors in Düsseldorf this year. After a short introduction of all scholarship students a boat trip on the Rhine is planned.
