Functions of the SIS
1. Viewing, downloading and printing transcripts and enrolment certificates
The SIS provides you all the information (personal student information, downloading and printing of transcripts and enrolment certificates) about your student status and performance. You will need this information during your stay at HBRS. The SIS displays a list of all the examinations and courses you have completed (passed and/or failed). Please note that this lists of grades only for your personal information. An official academic transcript on letter-headed paper (e.g. for applications for employment or further study) can be obtained from the Examinations Office , either personally or by post (on request).
2. Register and de-register for examinations
Students have to register for their examinations online via the SIS (only possible during the registration period announced on MBA News & Updates!) After the registration has been processed, students can find detailed information on the exams they are expected to take in the folder labelled "Examination information", which they receive on arrival. If you find any errors, please contact the Examinations Office immediately.
3. Checking of examination results
Please find your exam results in the latest transcript, which you can find in the SIS system. Your results will be available for six weeks after the exam date / paper deadline. The Examinations Office does not share results over the telephone.
2. Student E-Mail Account
On enrolment, all students will be given access to their personal HBRS student e-mail account. About four days after enrolment, students will be assigned an e-mail address with the following naming convention: email@example.com
You will then be able to check your mailbox at: https://owa.stud.h-brs.de/
3. LEA E-Learning Student Account
LEA (de: Lernen und Arbeiten online, en: Studying and Working Online) is the central teaching and learning platform of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. LEA is based on the ILIAS open source software. This learning management system is used and developed collaboratively by many universities in Germany and abroad. The system helps students study and helps lecturers teach. It can also be used for working in groups. Students will not only find materials for their courses, but they can also exchange information with their fellow students, set up their own learning groups, or use self-learning programmes. Students can use their LEA account for the following purposes:
- Conveniently access course materials (scripts, exercises, tasks, etc.) online
- Exchange information with fellow students and lecturers
- Set up student learning groups
- Study independently using learning programmes
4. WiFi connection on Campus site
Currently, some systems are available on both campuses. Depending on your location, you can use eduroam, WiPS, or HBRS WiFi.
Education roaming (eduroam ) allows members of participating universities to access the Internet from all connected campuses worldwide. To log in to eduroam, students have to use their HBRS e-mail account user name followed by @eduroam.h-brs.de and the same password.
HBRS "WIPS" WiFi (password-protected)
Our campus WiFi uses the SIS account credentials and is open to all members of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. The user name is composed of the first letter of the first name, the first five letters of the last name, a department code (1-5) and the letter “s” for students. At the end students have to add a domain suffix, depending on the campus:
For a fictional user Fritz Muster of Department 4, the user name would be as follows:
