In the research field Resource-Efficient Products and Processes the scientists focus on resource-optimized component development. The fundamental question is how scarce resources can be used efficiently and at the same time sustainably. The aim in general is to reduce energy consumption. This can be achieved either by better energy efficiency – for example using lighter components – or by aiming for a higher system performance. Therefore, the reliability and expected lifetime of components need to be further investigated to enable production of longer-lasting and more resilient components. One aspect in this research field is the characterization of modern materials which can be used for simulation of such components.
