Graduation Ceremony with flying hats and a minister
More than 1,000 students completed their studies at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) in the 2017/2018 academic year. On Saturday, 27 October 2018, around 500 of these graduates came to the Telekom Dome in Bonn to celebrate and review this achievement as a special occasion.

The Opening of the Academic Year in October 2018
Just over 2,000 first-semester students are starting the 2018/19 winter semester at H-BRS. In the light of approximately 1,000 graduates in the academic year, the number of students in the university towns of Sankt Augustin, Rheinbach and Hennef has risen to just under 9,000. University President Hartmut Ihne was delighted by the good figures.
Conference "Universities, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development in Africa"
On 13 and 14 September 2018, the conference "Universities, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development in Africa" took place for the seventh time. More than 200 national and international representatives from business, science, society and politics met at Sankt Augustin Campus of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences.
Summer party in June: Giant wingding in Rheinbach
More employees and students than ever gathered at Rheinbach Campus for the summer party. Despite the unsuccessful performance of the German national soccer team, those present celebrated the good weather and themselves with live music.
Second Alumni Day of the University
Nice people, good conversations, interesting lectures: The second alumni day of H-BRS on a sunny Friday in April 2018 was again a nice and enjoyable event. The day began with workshops in which alumni gave students interesting insights into their professional life. A lecture by former decathlete Frank Busemann motivated and amused the audience in the Audimax. In the afternoon, the programme was followed by activities of the departments, which finally led to a cosy get-together.
Scholarship celebration at H-BRS, December 2017
At this year's scholarship celebration 137 students received scholarship certificates. During the celebrations students also had the opportunity to meet benefactors in person.

2017 Campus Christmas
On 4 December, the Campus Christmas event took place in Sankt Augustin at the invitation of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Students and members of staff heralded the start of the holiday season with mulled wine by firelight accompanied by traditional waffles and potato cakes.
Official opening of the new buildings
On 4 December 2017 Hartmut Ihne, the University President, together with the head of the Rhein-Sieg district authority, Sankt Augustin's mayor and the state secretary officially opened the new H-BRS building in Sankt Augustin. This symbolic act also marked the opening of the new building on the Rheinbach campus.

Children's uni for 2017/2018 academic year: "One world, many languages"
The children's uni is being run for the fifth time! H-BRS, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and the SVD Philosophy and Theology University invite school pupils aged between eight and twelve to a series of children's uni events for the Rhein-Sieg district.
This year's theme is "One world, many languages" and once again inquisitive young researchers can expect an exciting programme of presentations and activities. They will learn about the diversity of languages across the globe, catch criminals in the lab and find out how they can communicate with their bodies.

October 2017 Graduation Ceremony
Over 1000 graduates from the 2016/17 academic year began a new phase in their lives after completing their studies at H-BRS. Around 400 of the graduates came to the Telekom Forum in Bonn on Saturday 21 October to look back on and celebrate this event.

The Official Launch of the Academic Year in October 2017
On Wednesday 18 October 2017 Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg officially launched the academic year on the Sankt Augustin campus. At the subsequent “Opportunities Fair” a variety of university facilities, student groups and external organisations introduced themselves.
Hot time, summer in the city...
The summer party of the H-BRS on 14 June 2017 at the campus Sankt Augustin was the expected relaxing and entertaining celebration which you would not want to miss - good music, friendly people and a whimsy, sunny summer afternoon and evening were the ingredients for a party to remember.

President’s dinner in the Federal Republic of Germany Art and Exhibition Hall
"Inspiration and innovation in research and development" - A suitable motto for the evening, considering the inspiring atmosphere of this year's presidential dinner in the Federal Republic of Germany Art and Exhibition Hall. For the fourth time representatives of regional companies as well as cooperation partners and sponsors of the university were invited to the Federal Art Gallery for an exhibition visit and dinner.

Company Day unplugged
Unfortunately this year the Company Day careers fair could not take place as planned. Nevertheless the organisation staff managed to find a new date and gave nearly 1,500 visitors the opportunity to get in touch with company representatives. Despite the short-term planning phase the event was extremely successful. The university and exhibitors are already looking forward to the next H-BRS Company Day on 8 November 2017.
2016 Campus Christmas at H-BRS in Sankt Augustin
On 1 December, the Campus Christmas event took place in Sankt Augustin at the invitation of the University President. A children's choir, craft stalls, hot drinks, waffles and potato fritters and, of course, Santa Claus helped to get the Christmas season off to a festive start. In Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach, young people also had the opportunity to hang their wishes on Christmas wish trees.

Children’s uni for 2016/2017 academic year “Full of energy”
Together with Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and the Philosophy and Theology University of the Steyler Missionaries, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University is inviting pupils to the children’s uni in the Rhein-Sieg area.
The motto of the series of events is “Full of energy” and there will be several lectures and workshops for curious young researchers from October 2016 till June 2017. In lectures the children will learn more about the light, sustainability and the Chinese Qi.

The Africa Conference in Sankt Augustin 2016
In November 2016, Prof. Jürgen Bode’s team organised the third conference on “Universities, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development in Africa”. More than 300 delegates met at the Sankt Augustin campus for podium and group discussions over two days.
Graduation ceremony in October 2016
Around 1300 guests made their way to the Telekom Forum on 22 October for this year's graduation ceremony. University President, Hartmut Ihne, congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their degrees and sent them on their way with some inspiring words of encouragement. Prizes were awarded, a very special jersey was auctioned off, there was dancing, and - of course - Bachelor's and Master's caps were thrown in the air.

Opening of the academic year in 2016
The day began on the Rheinbach Campus with a free breakfast for all organised by the AStA. In the packed lecture hall, President Hartmut Ihne offered a warm welcome to all new students, acclaimed new innovations and handed out awards to the Study Buddies, as well as conferring the DAAD Prize. Afterwards, those present enjoyed a small snack. Various different university support organisations were showcased at the Opportunities Fair.

A blessing for the university – foundation stone laid for the new development in Rheinbach
The laying of the foundation stone for the second expansion of H-BRS' Rheinbach campus was met by fitting celebrations. At the traditional ceremony, a time capsule was built into the cornerstone and blessed, after which those in attendance were invited to partake of some tasty treats and enjoyable music on the terrace overlooking the lake on campus.

This summer the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg celebrated the diversity of modern society. Diverse personalities study, live and work here. Therefore H-BRS launched the event series "Respect! Time for diversity, time for sustainability" as a sign of esteem.

Alumni Day 2016
This year's Alumni Day of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg was a successful event: more than 200 guests visited the Campus Sankt Augustin on 17 June and even the moderate weather could not spoil the great atmosphere .
Summer Party 2016
Beautiful weather, nice people, a fantastic stage programme and the German national team’s victory over Northern Ireland on Tuesday, 21 June added up to a relaxed atmosphere at the Summer Party on the Sankt Augustin Campus.
Children’s uni for 2015/2016 academic year "From near to far"
After the first two successful years (the events at H-BRS are still always fully booked) the children’s uni in the Rhein-Sieg area entered its third year in October 2015.
The motto of the series of events organised by H-BRS, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and the Philosophy and Theology University of the Steyler Missionaries for the 2015/2016 academic year is "From near to far". In exciting presentations and workshops, the young scientists experience a range of things, including how the world looks under a microscope, getting to know masquerades and taking off on an adventure within the event itself.

Graduation party in October 2015
President and philosopher Hartmut Ihne quoted (among others) Duke Ellington, the official student speakers explained the blue circles (empty in, full out) and, in response to requests from the audience, Toba Borke and Pheel rapped about Snow White, a wooden spoon and German politician von der Leyen. Then there was feasting and dancing, until everyone was sad that it was all over.

On 28 September 2015, University President Hartmut Ihne opened the 2015/2016 academic year. The first semester was ushered in, prizes given and visitors were able to view the "Market of Opportunities".

"À la mode" president’s dinner
The third president’s dinner at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg took place on 7 September 2015 amid the inspiring atmosphere of the Federal Republic of Germany Art and Exhibition Hall. University President Hartmut Ihne expressed his "real joy at being able to deepen relationships between the regional economy and the university against this creative backdrop."
Our university's 20th anniversary celebrations were a great success: approximately 800 visitors flocked to Sankt Augustin to enjoy the great day, which was celebrated in every way possible.
Children's University ('Kinderuni') in the 2014/15 school year: Searching for traces
Following on from last year’s successful launch, the Kinderuni in the Rhein-Sieg District moved into its second phase in October 2014.
'Searching for traces' is the motto of a series of events that is being carried out jointly by H-BRS and the Alanus University for Arts and Social Sciences during the 2014/15 school year. In lectures and workshops the young guests learn how multi-faceted a search for traces can be, where and how we leave traces and how we detect them.

2014 scholarship celebration
91 students from the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences have been awarded a scholarship this year. 82 of them have been presented with a Germany scholarship and five with DAAD scholarships. The German State or the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) meet half of the costs involved in the awards , while the other half is funded by a private sponsor.
At the celebration the sponsors were personally introduced to the students. The latter can now pursue their studies without having to worry too much about finance.
Panel discussion: External wealth - internal poverty
Socrates said: "Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty." There is a variety of views on the topic of this year’s lecture series "External wealth – internal poverty". This was especially noted in the panel discussion held on 24 November 2014 in the lecture hall (Audimax) at Sankt Augustin.

Company Day 2014
There was a rush at the Company Day on 12 November 2014. Foyer, dining hall and "university road" were jam-packed with stands of top-class companies from A to Z. The event was well received among the students.

Graduation Celebration in October 2014
It was quite an affair: After a reception with sparkling wine and a chat, there were people delivering important and entertaining speeches, rapping, beat boxing, singing, and there were presentations of glorious awards. The ceremonial act was followed by a delicious buffet, and in the end the graduates celebrated and danced in the “casino” (canteen of the Telekom building) until late at night.

University summer party 2014
Good mood in abundance - the summer party of the university on 16 June has really been a success. It was everything the heart desires: nice people, good music, crisp sausages and refreshing drinks, and not least a great World Cup opening match of the German national football team.
Pilot project Children's University 2013/2014
Together with Alanus University, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University conducts the project "Children's University in the Rhein-Sieg Region" since winter semester 2013/14. It was launched with the slogan "green green green... are all my questions". Due to the great success, the Children's University will continue in winter semester 2014/15, then themed "in search of the trail".
Scholarships celebration 2013
81 students of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University received a scholarship – 300 euros per month for the period of one year for each scholarship holder. In a ceremony in the main auditorium (Audimax) of the university, on Wednesday, 11 December 2013, the sponsors presented their scholars with a certificate.
Day of Research 2013
On the first Day of Research, which took place at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University on 5 December 2013, many students, members of staff and guests seized the opportunity to experience live projects, to get to talk to researchers and to take a look behind H-BRS otherwise closed laboratory doors.
15-year celebration 2011
In the summer of 2011, the University celebrated its 15th anniversary with some famous guests. Students designed the programme.
