Lecture: "Diseases & Drugs: An Atomic Level View on Molecular Mechanisms"

The basis of many human diseases can be found in the smallest changes in the building blocks of life. Infections with pathogens are also based on complex interactions and processes on a submicroscopic scale. How does a tropical parasite invade our cells and how can this infection be prevented? How can pathological changes in the organism triggered by genetic mutations be counteracted?

In order to understand these mechanisms of disease development and to be able to develop targeted countermeasures, high-resolution insights at the atomic level are crucial. Especially in the current pandemic situation, drug research is moving strongly into the consciousness of society.

The virtual inaugural lecture will therefore provide insights into the smallest, atomic world of biological molecules and shed light on mechanisms of disease development and their targeted treatment.

The lecture will be held in English. All interested parties are cordially invited.
