From bench to network!

Wednesday 29 May 2019

The Stemcellnetwork NRW invited for their kick-off meeting at May 13th and 14th in Düsseldorf. Within the two days international and national speakers presented their research in the field of regenerative medicine using stem cells. The applications were ranging from skin replacement for persons suffering from a gene defect over potential bone replacements to brain organoids.

The reason for the meeting was the fact that the Stemcellnetwork NRW, after more than 15 years of its existence, was able to get permanent funding by the government of North-Rhine-Westphalia. To do so it was re-founded as a registered association. The Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is part of the foundation members.

The stem cell group of H-BRS from Professor Tobiasch also attended the meeting, to get fasten their knowledge of the state-of-the-art regarding research and to connect to their colleagues in inspiring conversations. Additionally the students from the two new elective courses „Human Stem Cells for Angiogenesis in Regenerative Medicine“ and „qPCR Array for Evaluation of Transcription Factors in Stem Cell Differentiation“ attended the meeting. By doing so the students got the opportunity to get to know scientific conferences and to build up their own network to students, PhD students or professors which they can use in their further career. A special opportunity for networking was the river cruise on the Rhine at the first evening.

We want to encourage all students to use the opportunities given to you to build up your own network that will help you during your studies, PhD and further research projects.
