Collaboration
You are a student at H-BRS in any department and at any stage of your studies. You would like to get involved with your university and to actively help shape everyday university life. Furthermore, you are able to work in a team, are well organised and would like to find out how the university works behind the scenes?
If you are interested in getting involved with the AStA, then simply visit one of our offices, attend our next meeting or contact us on info@asta.h-brs.de.
We can often be found in the AStA office outside the opening hours, so simply drop by! Please note that the opening hours are only applicable during the lecture period.
Sports
Our sports activities are partly being offered again (e.g. Thai boxing in Rheinbach).
With our extensive range of free sports on offer, from badminton to parcour, there is something for everyone. Both in Sankt Augustin and in Rheinbach, there is a range of sports on offer for you during the lecture period. You don't even have to register for most of them, just come along.
It is important to note that since the AStA is responsible for running the sports programme, participants and instructors do not have any legal accident insurance cover. Participation is therefore at your own risk.
Sport Events
You have an idea? Share it with us and we'll try to make it happen. Cool new sport or a special sporting event? We are always open to new suggestions! Any questions? Write to us (link sends e-mail) or come by the office, we'll be happy to help you.
Allgemeiner Deutscher Hochschulsportverband (adh)
If the university is not enough of a sports field for you, you can also register yourself (or a team) for one or two competitions in the Allgemeiner Deutscher Hochschulsportverband (German University Sports Federation, adh) and prove yourself throughout Germany. We are happy to provide you with information and advice here and for all other questions.
During the school holidays, some of our sports activities do not take place.

Additional information for Sankt Augustin:
There is a sports field and the ASV Sankt Augustin right next to the university. You can become a member of this club for 5.50 euros per month and take part in all sports activities. Of course, you can also check it out for free. Membership runs until the end of the year.
Units
Because the AStA is divided into various units, it is able to make good use of people's individual strengths:
- Those interested in social and policy aspects will come into their own in the section for higher education policy and social affairs.
- Anyone with a talent for organisation should consider the sports section to help extend and improve the university's sports offering.
- Those with good written communication skills or who are familiar with media design will find themselves at home in the PR section.
- People who are good with numbers can take on many responsible tasks in the financial unit.
The AStA is comprised of the following sections:
Chair (vorsitz@asta.h-brs.de)
PR & Events (pr-und-events@asta.h-brs.de)
Responsible for creative communication with students, the general public, the university's administration and within the AStA. Provides information about the AStA's activities and events, as well as news in and around Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. The tasks of this section also include organising events and sponsors.
Finances (finanzen@asta.h-brs.de)
The AStA is financed by student contributions in the form of the student fee. The primary role of the financial unit is to manage these funds. The financial unit draws up a budget and monitors compliance with the budget following its adoption. As well as planning funding for the AStA, i.e. for university sports activities, for example, the budget includes funding for the executive committees of the departmental student councils and for the VRS semester ticket. Financial officers mainly carry out authorisation and controlling tasks while treasurers perform payment transactions and maintain accounts.
The budget is managed in accordance with the financial management regulations for student bodies in North Rhine-Westphalia (HWVO NRW). The AStA's financial year runs from 1 January to 31 December.
By way of comparison the financial unit resembles the finance department of a small business, which has record keeping obligations and needs to provide justification to certain institutions. In the case of the AStA, the StuPa budget committee ensures that student contributions are used correctly in accordance with the budget.
Higher education policy and social affairs (hochschulpolitik-und-soziales@asta.h-brs.de)
We represent you and provide advice on the following:
Lost and found
Have you lost something within the university? We are your point of contact for lost items, which hopefully have been handed in to us by kind fellow students. It's best to send an email to info@asta.h-brs.de describing the item you have lost and how long approximately it has been missing. We will then get back to you as soon as we can.
Financial assistance
You can obtain the forms required to apply for federal training assistance (BAföG) from us or download them from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research's website.
If your financial difficulties are serious to the extent that your studies are in jeopardy, it is possible to obtain an interest-free loan of up to a maximum of 500 euros.
You can download a PDF version of the loan application form here.
Legal advice
If you are experiencing legal difficulties either in relation to your studies or concerning your private life, and these are preventing you from focusing on your studies, we will try to help. We can provide a voucher for half an hour's legal advice. You can then use this to obtain advice from an experienced lawyer who has already agreed to join this programme.
VRS and NRW ticket
The AStA is the contractual partner with the public transport companies (VRS and Deutsche Bahn). If you have any questions about the ticket, please contact us.
An overview of the tariff regulations of the NRW-Semesterticket can be found here.
For certain reasons you can apply for a refund of the semester fee or the semester ticket. You can find the current information here.
Presentations and other activities
Got questions about rental matters or BAföG? We organise a consultation session on both these topics at the beginning of every semester.
As the representative committee of the Student Body, it is also important to us that we honour our commitment to society and we therefore started the following initiative:
Once a semester we conduct a blood donor drive including bone marrow typing.
Sports (sport@asta.h-brs.de)
Our tasks consist of organising and supervising the university's sports activities, as well as organising the uni run and tournaments and sharing all sport-related information with all students as soon as possible, answering questions and expanding our sports programme on an ongoing basis.
We are always open to your suggestions for improvement, sporting initiatives or similar and look forward to receiving any comments, feedback, etc. We are especially keen to welcome trainers who would like to lead sessions in particular sports.
