Coscine - Strong partner for your research data project

Coscine is the Research Data Management platform for your research project. Here, your data from research projects is stored in accordance with the FAIR principles. Coscine offers structured storage with metadata management, collaborative cooperation, and long-term storage for research data.

What is FAIR data?

Data storage is free of charge for up to 10 years after the end of the project. Coscine accesses DataStorage.nrw, a secure storage facility operated at four locations in Aachen, Duisburg-Essen, Cologne, and Paderborn. Coscine has been in development at RWTH Aachen University since 2018.

The most important functions:

Data storage: Up to 125 TB of storage space can be requested per project. You can use 100 GB per project without submitting a request.
Data description: You can describe your data with metadata (information about the data) so that it remains traceable.
Share (meta)data: Metadata can be made within Coscine publicly visible. The data itself is not freely accessible, but can be made available to selected individuals (e.g., project partners). All others can send a request by email.

Login:

For members of the H-BRS, login is via the university's IDM. In Coscine, select “Login (All institutions)” and search for “Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg IDM” as your home organization. In the next step, you can log in to Coscine with your MIA data.

Storage space in Coscine

When storing research data, you can choose from various types of resources. Storage space for a project in Coscine can be requested via the Coscine-JARDS platform. A detailed description can be found in the Coscine documentation.
