Talent and motivation are fundamental requirements for anyone aiming for a top-flight career. Willingness to assume responsibility is another. Scholarships give students with these attributes the freedom they need to pursue a challenging course of education and training. In this context, the Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship) relies on the cooperation of private sponsors, universities and the public sector.

Along with outstanding performance at school and university, the factors taken into account during the selection procedure include commitment to social causes and willingness to assume responsibility. Credit is also given to students who have successfully overcome obstacles in their personal lives, for example in connection with their social or cultural origins.

Each scholarship amounts to 300 Euro paid monthly for at least two semesters; in some cases the scholarship may be paid throughout the standard study period. Private sponsors lay the foundations of a scholarship by paying a minimum of 150 Euro a month. Another 150 Euro is added to this amount from government funds.

The university fosters personal interaction between the sponsors and scholarship winners. This enables interested companies and students to make important contacts at an early stage.
