GreenBonn Hackathon 2026

Here’s what you can expect:

Stadtwerke Bonn and its subsidiaries regularly collect environmental and sustainability data – for example, on energy, emissions, water, waste and mobility. The data comes from various subsidiaries, departments and systems. In some cases, it is collected multiple times, in different units and for different reports.

As part of the Green Bonn Hackathon, we would like to work with you to develop solutions that make this data easier to use. In line with the principle ‘Collect once – use multiple times’, the aim is to create a reliable and comprehensible basis for multiple analyses and reports from various raw data sets.

Your task is to develop a digital prototype that brings together environmental data, standardises or converts it where necessary, and presents it in a clear and understandable way. It should be clear where a data value comes from, which unit and time period it applies to, and how it was calculated.

The technical implementation is up to you. We will provide you with background information, sample data and subject matter experts.

Show us how inconsistent raw data can be transformed into a comprehensible, verified and reusable environmental data value.

Registration

The Green Bonn Hackathon is open to anyone interested. Apply for a place by 23 April via our online form, briefly outlining your motivation for taking part. Due to the very limited number of places, we can only make a selection and confirm your place once the registration phase has ended.

You can register as a team (maximum of 5 people) or as an individual. If you register as an individual, you will be matched with other participants to form a team.
