Insurance cover at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
For years, the university has been constantly working on optimising its insurance cover. A process has been established to recognise new needs and improve existing ones.
Every three years, the university's insurance cover is also reviewed by an external insurance broker.
The following insurance policies are currently in place (as of 2023):
- Business liability insurance including environmental liability insurance, environmental damage insurance & Internet supplementary insurance
- Extended financial loss liability insurance
- Criminal legal protection insurance
- Company car motor insurance, and corresponding insurance of the private car as part of a business trip
- Legal accident insurance and accident cover
- Travel health, -accident, emergency and liability insurance
- Group accident insurance for lecturers
- Aviation insurance
Additional insurances if required:
- Transport insurance
- Electrical insurance
- combined accident and liability insurance cover as part of holiday care

The process for optimisation:
- All department and division heads are contacted and asked for feedback.
- The feedback on the existing insurance cover and the possibilities for improvement or expansion will be reviewed, processed and subjected to an initial assessment by the administration.
- The results are presented and discussed in the Executive Board and Extended Executive Board.
- The results are presented and discussed in the University Council.
- The decisions to optimise the insurance cover will be implemented by the administration.
