B-it bots successful at European Robotics League

Wednesday 22 February 2017

The b-it bots@home team recently took part in a competition of the European robotics League ERL in Peccioli, Italy. Unfortunately, the team was not able to take service robot Jenny to the site, so they competed with two of the less bulky youbots instead.

The team participated in two functionality benchmarks: Object Perception and Speech Recognition. Despite having had little time to prepare because of the examination week right before the competition and working with an unfamiliar @home competition robot, the team achieved great results.

In the Object Perception benchmark the b-it bots even finished first! Additionally, by changing  part of the Speech Recognition approach during the competition, they managed to win second place in the Speech Recognition benchmark.

Team leader Iryna Ivanovska sums up: "Overall, this was a very fruitful experience and we are looking forward to the new challenges."

These new challenges will certainly arise as the German Open are approaching in Magdeburg this May.

Well done, b-it bots!
