DAAD Prize 2025 for outstanding achievements by international students goes to Pallavi Aithal Narayan
The DAAD Prize, worth €1,000, has been awarded once per university for more than ten years. It aims to give a face to the many international students at German universities and to make their individual stories visible. It emphasises that every single international student carries a piece of Germany out into the world and at the same time leaves their cultural mark on Germany, enriching both sides. The award winners represent their fellow students from all over the world and are future partners for Germany in business, politics and science.
Pallavi Aithal Narayan is in her sixth semester of the MAS programme in the Department of Computer Science and has achieved impressive academic results. In addition to her successful studies, she is involved in a variety of activities both within the university and beyond.
She represented H-BRS at the German Open RoboCup@Home League 2024 in Kassel and worked closely with Fraunhofer FKIE as part of her research and development project.
She took on responsibility early on in the Department of Computer Science and has already organised the Foundations Course for new international MAS students twice. This course teaches the essentials for a successful start to university studies. In her leadership role, she demonstrated great organisational skills, teamwork and a sense of responsibility.
In addition, she supported new students during orientation week and volunteered as a study buddy. Here, she particularly helped fellow students who were facing visa challenges or geopolitical difficulties, and volunteered to advise them on important administrative processes.
Pallavi Aithal Narayan was also one of the RobotRangers, helping to supervise and secure the robotics laboratories for the master's programme. Beyond H-BRS, she was elected senior tutor in the student union's student residence.
She also demonstrated her commitment to diversity and respect at the Diversity Snack Event as part of ‘Respect! Diversity Day 2024’. For her contributions to promoting an inclusive campus climate, she was honoured as the H-BRS ‘Respect! Diversity Ambassador’.
Despite her broad social and organisational commitment, she managed to pursue her studies with great care and determination and achieve outstanding academic performance.
By awarding the DAAD Prize 2025, H-BRS honours a student who combines academic excellence with social responsibility in an outstanding manner.
