ICT Summer School 2025 in Helsinki, Finland

20250804-08 ICT Summer School Helsinki - Farbbearbeitung im internationlen Kontext

Friday 8 August 2025

Together with nine students, Prof. Norbert Jung, Markus Rohde, Pia Funk and Vera Schliefer from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences took part in the ICT Summer School in Helsinki in August 2025. The venue was once again the Metropolia-Myyrmäki Campus.

The course ‘Color Science, Colorimetry and Fundamentals of Color Image Processing’ was offered, jointly led by Norbert Jung, Pia Funk, Markus Rohde and Vera Schliefer. The topic offered an exciting combination of colorimetry, image processing and visual perception. In addition to the technical ‘Colour Science Quiz’, this year's popular ‘Finland Quiz’ with cultural background information offered variety and insights beyond the course content. A special innovation: With the support of ChatGPT, the audio piece ‘Scenic Dialogue Beyond Time’ was created, which underlined the creative side of the topic and demonstrated the use of artificial intelligence in a learning context. A total of 11 students actively participated in the course and successfully completed it with the final test. The course was part of a diverse programme organised each year by the ICT Summer School.

What makes the ICT Summer School special?
The Summer School brings together teachers and students from all over the world, resulting in an inspiring, multicultural learning environment characterised by exchange, diversity and international networking. Lecturers from partner universities and experienced industry experts bring their favourite subjects to campus with enthusiasm and expertise. Practical, interactive and always at the cutting edge.

The courses on offer range from classic engineering and IT topics to interdisciplinary areas such as economics and communication. The high level of practical relevance is particularly appreciated: case studies, group work and hands-on projects are the focus.

A big thank you to our partner university Metropolia in Helsinki for the invitation and the great organisation – and of course to our students for their commitment and great cooperation on site!
