The tasks and area of responsibility of the Central Services team include the planning, operation as well as the further development of all central data storage or authentication services of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. Among other things, the access data of all university members are managed in these separately operating systems, which then enable the use of further services such as E-Mail or WLAN.

This includes:
- the central Windows domains of the university
- groupware and e-mail transport systems,
- the central file servers,
- Exchange platforms, such as Confluence, NextCloud services or Microsoft Sharepoint Server,
- network monitoring systems,
- various other application systems,
- Domain Name Systems (DNS),
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP),
- licensing services,
- extensive other background services

Some figures on this: The university's central Exchange servers currently manage around 12,000 e-mail mailboxes, approx. 450 e-mail distribution lists and more than 60 databases for various purposes.

The requirements for these central data repositories or authentication services have increased quantitatively and qualitatively to such an extent that the "Central Services" team was formed in the Institute for IT Service on 01.06.2022. This means that this area is also set up for the future.
