Dirk Reith - Visiting Professor in California

Professor Dirk Reith from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is taking up a visiting professorship at the University of California, Davis campus, on the invitation of its Department of Chemical Engineering.

Reith will use his stay in California to exchange knowledge and experience with the scientists at Davis, whose particular interest is in the research activities and innovations regarding sustainability at the Institute of Technology, Renewables and Energy-Efficient Engineering (TREE) at H-BRS. Together with his colleagues, Professors Ahmet Palazoglu, Adam Moule and Roland Faller, the Scientific Director of TREE is working on force field development for molecular simulation models in materials research and for biochemical systems and their applications in industry-oriented fields.

Also on the agenda is negotiating a cooperation agreement between Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and UC Davis. It is anticipated that our Californian colleague, Professor Palazoglu, will – not just for this reason – make a return visit next year. The cooperation between the two institutions already has a certain amount of history:
