Lots of Green Dots for the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in the Latest CHE University Ranking

Wednesday 8 May 2013

The latest university ranking conducted by the Centre for University Development (CHE) has been published.

The degree programmes at Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach, which have been given numerous green dots, are taking the lead. The four degree programmes offered by Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University that the CHE ranking focused on include Chemistry and Biology, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. According to the ranking, which has only recently been published in the study guide of the German Zeit magazine, the above programmes offered by the Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach campuses are in the top league: they have been awarded numerous green dots, depending on the category analysed.

The students assess their study situation as being average across all subjects. However, when it comes to talking about the number of students completing their studies within the standard period, the ranking shows that our University is, once again, among the leaders - except for Chemistry. This can be viewed as a positive statement since it ultimately shows that the related subjects can be studied within the given time frame; that the University is provided with state-of-the-art equipment and that the students are well looked after. In the category “research funds”, too, the study programmes in Chemistry and Biology offered by the Rheinbach Department of Natural Sciences have been awarded a green dot for their excellent performance.

Interested students looking for a University with the aid of the ranking can set their own priorities by choosing from a maximum of six dots in a catalogue that includes chapters entitled “Overall Assessments”, “Tuition and Studies”, “Equipment”, “International Orientation”, “Research” as well as “Jobs Market and Practical Orientation” and “Place of Study and University”. According to the CHE, the ranking is based on up to 37 different assessment criteria per degree programme.

In addition, the study guide contains the rankings for other study programmes offered by our University, which were published in 2011: Media Studies/Technical Journalism, Computer Science and Business Information Systems as well as Business Administration.
