German poetry at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana
Rahel Hutgens and Sally Brammer (International Office), Sebastian Bücklers (Student Services) as well as Stephanie Cramer and Sandra Kärcher (Coordinators German as a Foreign Language, Language Centre) were on the road as part of Erasmus + to deepen and expand the strategic partnership between UCC and H-BRS.
In Cape Coast, the delegation was warmly welcomed by many responsible persons and not least by the Registrar of the UCC, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, and was given comprehensive insights into various facilities and departments of the UCC.
So Stephanie Cramer and Sandra Kärcher had the opportunity to exchange ideas with numerous foreign language teachers - at the Confucius Institute and in the Department of French Language and Literature.
For Stephanie Cramer and Sandra Kärcher, the visit to the German Club was undoubtedly the professional highlight of the trip. Here, students impressed with their good knowledge of German, which they demonstrated by singing and reciting Goethe's Erlkönig and contemporary poetry, among other things.
In the subsequent discussion, great interest was expressed in establishing a comprehensive German course programme at UCC and a mutual desire for future cooperation.
The Language Centre team presented the Chairman of the German Club, Cephas Aziabou, with 10 textbooks, which are currently also being used for teaching at H-BRS.
Three UCC students have already been given the opportunity to take part in an online beginners' course at the H-BRS. In future, UCC students will also have access to a self-learning module "German for beginners", which was developed by Language Centre staff for beginners' lessons.
The delegation's visit was rounded off with a tour of Emina Castle and a tour of Kakum National Park.
