Prof. Reith intensifies collaboration with UC Davis

Thursday 7 March 2019

The Davis campus of the University of California and the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences are further intensifying their cooperation: Based on the cooperation agreement signed at the beginning of 2018, Reith's visit was the next step in establishing and structuring so-called working agreements.

The collaboration, initially focused on the Department of Chemical Engineering, has now been extended to include the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, where Prof. Barbara Linke, who did a Habilitation at RWTH Aachen, runs the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Sustainable Technologies Research (MASTeR). Here, the talks revealed overlap with some research groups of the TREE Institute.

With the Department of Chemical Engineering, the collaboration has now expanded on both sides; Reith had talks with five different colleagues of the department and first common application ideas were pursued in Sankt Augustin with Prof. Tanja Clees. It seems only logical that the Chair of the Department, Prof. Roland Faller, was recently admitted to the TREE Institute Advisory Board.

Since October 2018, the first practical internships for students of H-BRS at UC Davis campus were implemented: Four H-BRS engineering students are currently involved in two research groups at UC Davis, as so-called undergraduate research scholars. Presumably, scientific publications will be created in both working groups due to the collaboration.

Dirk Reith therefore returns fully satisfied from his week-long visit to California.
