The festive award ceremony took place at the 20th of October at the „Deutsche Museum Bonn“. The prizes, which have been announced with 1000 Euros, have been founded by companies and foundations from the region. Both the chairman of the university corporation, Matthias Rupf, and the president of the university, Hartmut Ihne, praised the excellent theses of the students as well as the practice-oriented approaches. Many of the subjects of the theses were accompanied by companies.

Alexander Asteroth, Executive Director of the TREE institute, supervised both of the theses “Combination of Neuro-Evolutionary Methods with the Gradient Method for Neuronal Networks” by Dirk Rusche and “DoveCopter: A Tracking and Following Aerial Platform for Aerodynamics Analysis of a Velomobile“ by Ahmad Drak. The prize for the first thesis was donated by the RUPF INDUSTRIES Group – an engineering company within the plant engineering and construction segment. Donor of the second prize was the SVA System Vertrieb Alexander GmbH, which is a leading company for system integration and datacenter infrastructure in Germany.

The third awarded thesis, „Development and Evaluation of a Method for the Trajectory Determination of Semi-Trailers” by Simon Weßel, was supervised by Roustiam Chakirov, professor for control theory, and Dirk Reith, Academic Director of the TREE institute. The thesis has been developed in collaboration with the BPW Bergische Achsen KG. Donor of the prize was the WIRTGEN GmbH, a leading engineering company in the segment of molding cutters, recycling machines and surface miners.
