During the International Weeks Against Racism, we would like to raise awareness and provide university members with important tips and advice on how to take a stand against racism and become active.
Why is it important to be aware of racism and to take action? Racist discrimination is still part of many people's everyday lives. Racism can come in many different forms, from overt hostility and hatred to subtle prejudice and stereotyping. Therefore, it is important that we inform ourselves about how racism occurs and what effects it has on those affected. Only then we become aware what kind of behaviour is racist and how we can actively engage against it and show our stance. By connecting with people of other cultures and nationalities and standing up for diversity, we can contribute to fighting racism and creating a diversity-sensitive society.
This year's motto "Get involved" of the "Stiftung gegen Rassismus" (Foundation against Racism) is meant to show that by actively intervening, one can prevent further racist acts, show attitude and promote a diverse and inclusive society.
Let's act together against racism!
