Deutschlandstipendium - what do you need to know?
The Deutschlandstipendium provides funding for highly gifted students at a German university. Along with outstanding performance at school and university, the factors taken into account during the selection procedure include commitment to social causes and the willingness to assume responsibility. Credit is also given to students who have successfully overcome obstacles in their personal lives, for example in connection with their social or cultural origins.
The scholarships will be financed by private sponsors, each of whom will sponsor the students for at least one year. The federal government will top up each monthly donation of 150 Euro by another 150 Euro. The scholarship winners will therefore receive 300 Euro a month. This funding does not depend on your income or that of your parents. Neither is it offset against BAföG. The scholarships are awarded by the universities.
All the most important information on implementing the Deutschlandstipendium programme at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, the application procedure, selection criteria and deadlines is provided in the FAQ and guidelines (see documents below).
Along with the financial support, another significant advantage of the Deutschlandstipendium programme is the contact between students and sponsors!

What our scholarship holders say...
The scholarship gives me the freedom to seize opportunities that might otherwise not have been possible. Engaging with my mentor and students from different disciplines and years has opened up new perspectives on current issues for me.
– Pauline Fleck (Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology)
The Deutschlandstipendium supported me throughout my studies and gave me financial security, enabling me to focus more fully on my coursework, improve my academic performance and take a proactive approach to my studies. I am very grateful for this support and think it’s wonderful that students’ commitment and academic achievement are recognised and encouraged in this way.
– Anna Pütz (Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology)
The scholarship takes the financial pressure off me and, at the same time, makes me feel seen and valued. This recognition motivates me to continue working with dedication and determination.
