Study internationally with a HAW.International scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the international mobility of students at universities of applied sciences (HAW) with its HAW.International programme. Funding is available for study visits and periods abroad to write final theses in all subject areas.
The aim of the programme is to enable students in practice-oriented degree programmes to gain international experience and, at the same time, to strengthen cooperation between German universities of applied sciences and partner universities worldwide.
Current scholarship applications
The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences awards partial scholarships for stays abroad with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the DAAD Partial scholarships for stays abroad. These are awarded on the basis of academic qualification and personal suitability.
For the first time, H-BRS is awarding Erasmus+ scholarships for internships outside of Europe! Depending on the destination country, the scholarship rates are between 540 and 700 euros per month. Apply now! Details about the tender can be found in the LEA group via the following link:

International Summer School strengthens exchange with ICAM Toulouse
16 students from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg visited the partner university ICAM Toulouse in April 2026 as part of the new "ICAM Summerschool" elective. The focus was on international cooperation, sustainable technologies and intercultural exchange with French students.

HAN - H-BRS Exchange Programme: Students visit the university in Nijmegen
When asked to reflect on their recent trip to Nijmegen in the Netherlands, our students overwhelmingly cited the people they met as the highlight of their experience. This sentiment speaks to the warm welcome and hospitality that our partner university, HAN, extended to our group of twelve students and three university representatives. During our two-day visit, we had the opportunity to engage with HAN's faculty, staff and students, forging connections and gaining insight into their academic community.

H-BRS receives DAAD funding under the “Academic Horizons – Attracting Global Minds” programme
H-BRS is one of 20 higher education institutions receiving funding under the “Academic Horizons – Attracting Global Minds” programme run by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This programme is part of the 1000-Köpfe-Plus initiative and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The university has secured around €750,000 for the project “TALENT – Talent Attraction and Lifelong Empowerment for New Technologies” (May 2026 - end of 2029), which is being implemented by the Department of Computer Science, the Graduate School and the International Office.
