Study internationally with a HAW.International scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the international mobility of students at universities of applied sciences (HAW) with its HAW.International programme. Funding is available for study visits and periods abroad to write final theses in all subject areas.
The aim of the programme is to enable students in practice-oriented degree programmes to gain international experience and, at the same time, to strengthen cooperation between German universities of applied sciences and partner universities worldwide.
Current scholarship applications
The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences awards partial scholarships for stays abroad with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the DAAD Partial scholarships for stays abroad. These are awarded on the basis of academic qualification and personal suitability.
For the first time, H-BRS is awarding Erasmus+ scholarships for internships outside of Europe! Depending on the destination country, the scholarship rates are between 540 and 700 euros per month. Apply now! Details about the tender can be found in the LEA group via the following link:

H-BRS in Vietnam: creating new opportunities and strengthening international partnerships
Nine days, numerous meetings and a wealth of ideas for international cooperation: as part of the TALENT project, Abdelrahman Fatoum, project manager for the TALENT project, and Janina-Domenica Wörmann, mobility management coordinator from the International Office, travelled to Vietnam to take part in three events. During their visit, they gained insights into the Vietnamese higher education landscape, strengthened existing contacts, forged new networks and raised awareness locally of the international study opportunities available at H-BRS.

H-BRS got Balkanised
How can universities work together to address societal challenges and develop practical solutions? This question shaped the activities of a delegation from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) in Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania in October 2026. Through academic exchange, Erasmus+ networking, the development of a joint European funding proposal and engagement with local internship organisations, the delegation explored opportunities to strengthen international partnerships and contribute to the development of applied social policy in the Western Balkans.

DAAD Alumni Seminar Explores Children, Climate Change and Social Protection in Sub-Saharan Africa
The 2026 DAAD Alumni Seminar brought together M.Sc. Social Protection alumni from the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, to exchange experiences and perspectives on "Children, Climate Change, and Social Protection in Sub-Saharan Africa". Held from 14-18 September 2026, the seminar explored how social protection systems can better safeguard children from the combined challenges of poverty, climate change, and social exclusion.

H-BRS together with other universities of applied sciences from North Rhine-Westphalia at the EAIE in Glasgow
International exchanges, new partnerships and plenty of discussions: Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) was represented at this year’s EAIE conference in Glasgow. The conference provided an ideal opportunity to nurture existing partnerships, forge new contacts and gather ideas for the further internationalisation of H-BRS.

H-BRS staff participates in 14th UEED Africa Conference in Ghana
This conference took place on 15th and 16th of September 2026 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana and gathered more than 400 people to discuss how to build resilient ecosystems for Africa’s digital and artificial intelligence future.
