H-BRS together with other universities of applied sciences from North Rhine-Westphalia at the EAIE in Glasgow
At a joint stand shared by seven universities of applied sciences (HAW) from North Rhine-Westphalia, the H-BRS showcased itself with information materials and small giveaways. Alongside two representatives from the International Office, one representative from each academic department had travelled to Glasgow. This enabled the participants not only to represent the university on the international stage, but also to gain valuable insights into current developments in internationalisation and to network with universities from all over the world.
The conference programme included numerous discussions with international partner universities. These focused both on the further development of existing partnerships and on new opportunities for collaboration. Contacts were established with universities from various countries, and ideas for future forms of cooperation were exchanged.
A particular highlight was the exchange with our partner institution, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). Our colleagues from GCU went out of their way to make time for our visit. Prof. Annette Menke took part in the university’s Partner Day and, together with Christina Holthaus, was subsequently given the opportunity to tour the campus and visit various facilities at GCU.
The H-BRS was also well represented at the stand in culinary terms. For a small reception, there was – modelled on a German kiosk – a selection of Haribo sweets. The colourful assortment proved to be a real crowd-puller and attracted numerous interested visitors to the stand. In this way, alongside international university contacts, we were also able to showcase a little bit of Rhineland zest for life and everyday German culture.
And Glasgow had plenty to offer outside the conference too: the Scottish city impressed with its friendly people, its unique blend of historic architecture and mystical Gothic style, and, of course, classic fish and chips.
The EAIE in Glasgow offered H-BRS numerous opportunities to foster international relations, establish new contacts and gain valuable insights for further internationalisation. The joint presence with the five other universities of applied sciences from North Rhine-Westphalia enhanced the visibility of the institutions and promoted exchange.
The H-BRS is already looking forward to taking part in the EAIE again next year. Then it’s off to Lisbon – hopefully with just as many exciting encounters, new collaborations and perhaps another little piece of the Rhineland to take home.
