Podcast Green Campus: First episodes on sustainability in campus life

Podcast Green Campus

Tuesday 8 April 2025

A podcast has been created as part of the course "Green Campus - Together for a sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable university". Eight students from the departments of Business Administration and Technical Journalism have developed three podcast episodes on sustainability topics for the campus. The first episode has now been officially released. The seminar was led by Professor Wiltrud Terlau and research associate Silvia Berenice Fischer from the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE).

After around a semester of work, students have now produced three episodes that address various environmental topics on campus:

  • Campus & sustainable nutrition
  • Campus & climate resilience
  • Campus & the Green Office

The content and scripts were developed together with various departments of the university. The students were provided with content through lectures on sustainability topics, interviews with facility management and sustainability communication, for example. The episodes were then recorded in the H-BRS radio studio.

The first episode on the topic of "Sustainable nutrition" has now been released. Further podcast episodes are currently in production.

Education for Sustainable Development

With the course "Green Campus - Together for a sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable university" the IZNE aims to promote the implementation of the H-BRS sustainability strategy and the development of skills in the area of "Education for Sustainable Development". This includes the following skills:

  1. Understanding, using and presenting appropriate, relevant sources of information and critically analysing and integrating them into a podcast episode.
  2. Capturing the sustainability status of the H-BRS campus by integrating different perspectives (including one's own) to create a more sustainable university.
  3. The collaborative development of innovative solutions for a sustainable campus based on research, presentations and interviews.

Thanks to the ZIEL funding "Good Teaching Ideas" and the support of Henrik Baumanns (Visual Technical Communication student), this elective could be realised.
