Research project at a glance

The project's aim is to develop and test new methods and instruments for institutionalised transfer cooperation between non-university research institutions (AUF) and universities of applied sciences (HAW), using the example of global climate and environmental change and associated health effects. A multi-stage transfer chain from basic research via applied research and teaching to societal, economic, and political actors will be developed. Suitable and innovative formats will be designed and implemented to create a sustainable system of knowledge transfer into practice. Accompanying research will record and analyse knowledge transfer preferences of researchers and practitioners.

The project's aim is to develop and test new methods and instruments for institutionalized transfer cooperations between non-university research institutions (AUF) and universities of applied sciences (HAW) using the example of global climate and environmental changes and associated health effects. A multi-stage transfer chain from basic research via applied research and teaching to societal, economic, and political actors will be developed. Suitable and innovative formats will be designed and implemented to create a sustainable system of knowledge transfer into practice. Accompanying research will record and analyse knowledge transfer preferences of researchers and practitioners.

 

The Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPIC) in Mainz is responsible for coordinating the network.The primary goal of MPIC is the transfer of research results to HAW. Also, ideas for future transfer and research planning shall be generated via feedback loops. Accordingly, innovative, high-quality and practice-oriented "smart" transfer paths into HAW are developed, using the example of concrete results from basic research in the fields of climate, environment and health studies. The focus is on innovative exchange formats (e.g. public panel discussions, podcasts and social media communication) that are suitable for the transfer of basic scientific results to HAW.

 

The goal of IZNE is to develop a toolbox of transfer instruments designed for specific target groups that can have a broad impact on society. The university acts as a "transfer hinge" for the transfer of basic research via its researchers and lecturers to students as well as civil society (NGOs, initiatives, citizens), economic and political actors. The project at IZNE is complemented by academic research, whose aim is to analyze existing preferences (and relevant influencing factors) of science actors and selected practice partners in the fields of climate, environment, and health studies regarding their participation in transfer processes. These scholars’ perceptions of the influence of engaging in transfer on scientific quality and societal relevance of research is also studied.
