H-BRS welcomes its new trainees

It’s an anniversary: for 20 years, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) has also been an attractive place of learning for apprentices. In August, another seven young people began their vocational training in the laboratory, office, library and IT departments. On Monday, Chancellor Angela Fischer and Training Co-ordinator Denise Nuffer, together with the trainers, officially welcomed them to the university and wished them every happiness and success for the years ahead.

Chancellor Fischer: “Share your ideas”

Chancellor Angela Fischer encouraged the new trainees to make the most of the time ahead of them. “A good apprenticeship isn’t just about what we teach you. It’s also about what you make of it,” she said. “Share your ideas. Be curious. Try things out. You are now part of the university team.” Trainers and colleagues would support them. “Learn as much as you can – not just for exams, but for your future working life and for yourselves,” said the chancellor.

“Our trainees are an important part of H-BRS and, with their ideas and perspectives, contribute to the diversity of our university,” emphasised training coordinator Denise Nuffer. “We want to give them a good start and provide them with lots of exciting insights during their training period.” Following the official welcome at the Sankt Augustin campus, there was a tour of the campus, a visit to the library and a meal together to get to know one another. Six of the seven new trainees were present.

The H-BRS is currently training 22 women and men

The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg was founded in January 1995 and has campuses in Sankt Augustin, Rheinbach and Hennef. It offers around 40 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, with a total of around 9,000 students enrolled. Since 2006, it has also been possible to complete a traditional vocational training programme at the H-BRS – as a biology laboratory assistant, a chemical laboratory technician, a media and information services specialist, an IT specialist in system integration, an IT specialist in application development or an office management assistant. The H-BRS is currently training a total of 22 men and women.
