The Department of Management Sciences at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences stands for applied research with strong academic depth and societal relevance. Our research activities combine solid theoretical expertise with concrete questions arising from business, policy, and society.

Information on Research

Research is a central component of our department’s profile. Our professors and research staff are recognized experts in various disciplines of the economic sciences and are involved in a wide range of national and international research projects. Working in interdisciplinary teams, our researchers address current questions in the core areas of business administration, economics, business information systems, and business psychology. Our research spans empirical studies, data-driven analyses, and theoretical modeling. The aim is to generate scientifically sound insights while developing practical solutions to economic and societal challenges.

Information on Institutes

The institutes of the Department of Management Sciences bring together selected research areas and provide institutional structures that support sustainable research profiling, third-party funded projects, and knowledge transfer. They represent thematic focus, interdisciplinary collaboration, and close cooperation with partners from industry and society.

Information on Doctoral Studies

Doctoral studies are a central element of our academic mission and reflect our commitment to actively shaping research. In November 2022, universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia were granted the right to award doctorates by the Ministry of Culture and Science. This right is organized through the Graduate School NRW (Promotionskolleg NRW – PK NRW) and opens new and attractive pathways for early-career researchers to pursue doctoral qualifications.

At the Department of Business Studies, we support doctoral projects in the core disciplines of Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems, and Business Psychology. Our doctoral researchers work on innovative and scientifically rigorous research questions with strong practical relevance and societal impact. The aim is to develop independent research profiles and contribute sustainably to the advancement of the economic and management sciences.
