[Archive] Campus garden honoured with environmental award

The environmental award was announced for the first time last year. It honoured civic commitment to nature and species conservation in the Sankt Augustin urban area. There were four categories in total.

In the category "Ideas and commitment of schools, companies and working groups", the jury praised our campus garden project "for the initiative to teach students the importance of a garden for microclimate, biodiversity and health". Prof. Iris Groß and Martina Grein accepted the award for the campus garden.

Over 100 citizens, donors and award winners as well as people from politics and the media attended the award ceremony on 12 June 2023 on the grounds of the training workshop and the nature project "Feys Streubostwiese". The laudatory speech was given by Marcus Lübken, Chairperson of the Management Board of Stadtwerke Sankt Augustin and Andreas Fey, Chairperson of FAUNA. In the categories "Ideas and commitment of private individuals", "Ideas and commitment of kindergartens and primary schools", "Ideas and commitment of schools, companies and working groups" as well as the special categories "Photography Fauna & Flora" and "Children and Youth Environmental Award", a total of 14 projects were honoured, all of which make a unique contribution to the preservation and promotion of natural habitats in Sankt Augustin and inspire imitation.
