Project Description
Globalisation and demographic change are leading to a shortage of skilled workers in Germany and intensifying the "war for talent". These developments are increasing competition for qualified workers and posing new challenges for human resource management. The aim of this PhD project is to improve the match between applicants and vacancies in order to minimise wrong decisions in personnel selection. To this end, influencing factors that distort objective perception and can provide clues for more efficient candidate selection are being investigated. Wrong appointments have a negative impact on productivity and staff turnover. In order to make targeted use of existing human capital and retain it in the long term, companies are increasingly turning to occupational health management. This not only contributes to maintaining the ability to work in an ageing workforce, but also strengthens employee loyalty in a working environment characterised by globalisation and technology. As a central component, this project analyses break management – in particular with regard to the effectiveness of various interventions.
