Facts and Figures

As of the 2022/23 winter semester more than 9,000 students are learning and conducting research at H-BRS' three locations, Sankt Augustin, Rheinbach and Hennef. They are supported by approximately 1,100 members of staff. In the 21/22 academic year, around 1,300 graduates successfully completed their studies and 2,000 young people started their degree programmes at H-BRS in the 2022/23 winter semester. The students are divided across 5 departments, in which they can choose from 39 different Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes.

In 17 research institutes such as the Institute of Visual Computing (IVC) or the Institute of Safety and Security Research (ISF) interdisciplinary work is conducted on innovations and applied solutions for current research problems.

Around 150 professors and a good 400 research associates work at the university. They are supported by ca. 300 lecturers from academia and professional practice. Approximately 280 people are employed in technology and administration.

The area for learning, teaching and working covers well in excess of 100,000 m², on which the university produces over 6,000 kilowatt hours of electricity every year in its photovoltaic plants.
