Course content
Business plans, financial models and investor presentation of innovative enterprise ideas are the prime learning experience of all participants. There will be a constructive feedback given to all start-up concepts of individual students willing to present their ideas.
Learning methods are besides quick presentation, group work, role play and exercise of “elevator” pitches (5-minute presentation of business plan highlights).
The following answers will be given:
- How to find investor/funding sources? Donor investors /
Philanthropy investors / Venture capitalist - Which characteristics find which investor´s appetite?
- How to approach Strength-Weakness-Opportunities-Threat- Analysis (SWOT)?
- Which are the critical factors in financial models? What do investors ask/look for?
- How to prepare a one-pager for investor acquisition? How to prepare You-tube-short cuts to catch investor´s interest?
- How to prepare a social investor´s pitch?
- How to give a professional elevator pitch?
Course objectives
The seminar´s objective is to share practitioner´s experience of venture capital finance in developing countries for students interested in starting a social enterprise. This cuorse shall offer an intense dialogue between university and practice for NGO-Managers in developing countries. The seminar´s objective is to share practitioner´s experience of venture capital finance in developing countries for students interested in starting a social enterprise.
The seminar will cover real world examples of business plans of social enterprises in developing countries, give structural recommendations for business plans and offer training for investor presentations/pitching sessions. The students understand basics of social venture capital finance based on various examples from developing countries. Have the chance to test their own social business model within a peer group.
