Call for Papers, Projects & Partners – FrOSCon 2026
FrOSCon will take place on 15 and 16 August at the H-BRS – one of the largest trade fairs for free and open-source software in Germany. To ensure that the programme is once again varied, diverse and packed with topical issues, the call for papers is now open. Anyone interested is warmly invited to submit a paper.

How urban gardens help rebalance carbon: Q&A with PhD student Atefeh Movassagh
Atefeh Movassagh is a PhD student at the University of Bonn and the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (International Centre for Sustainable Development, IZNE). In the final phase of her doctorate, she investigates how land use and management practices influence soil organic carbon stock (SOC) and nutrients in urban green spaces of the Bonn and Rhein-Sieg districts. Her research not only advances scientific understanding but also provides practical recommendations for sustainable urban land use. In this interview, she explains her work, its significance, and how every garden can contribute to climate action.

Young students from Rhein-Sieg Gymnasium impress in the Computer Science department
At the start of the summer term, lecturer André Kless from the Department of Computer Science at H-BRS once again welcomed a group of enthusiastic young students from Rhein-Sieg-Gymnasium who are successfully attending courses alongside their school studies. As early as the 2025/26 winter term, six students on the BCSP programme had already impressed with their outstanding achievements.
