Michael Heinzelmann: Von Fischertechnik zum Rennrad Marke Eigenbau
Michael Heinzelmann weiß, wie man mit den unterschiedlichsten Werkstoffen umgeht. Als Professor am Fachbereich Angewandte Naturwissenschaften vermittelt er seinen Studierenden, wie man die Tragfähigkeit und Haltbarkeit verschiedener Materialien bestimmt, um Maschinen, Fahrzeuge und Bauwerke zu konstruieren. Privat baut der Wissenschaftler allerhand nützliche Alltagsgegenstände – darunter auch ein Fahrrad, das ihn nun schon seit Jahren durch dick und dünn begleitet.

Neue Filmstudio-Box am Campus Rheinbach
Auch am Campus Rheinbach können Hochschulgehörige ab sofort ihre (Lehr-)Videos, Vorträge oder Präsentationen im voll automatisierten Filmstudio in der Bibliothek aufnehmen. Das One Button Recording Studio (OBRS) ermöglicht einfache Drehs ohne fremde Hilfe für Studierende, Lehrende und Mitarbeitende der H-BRS.

Publish Open Access with ACM
The library has already been offering access to the ACM Digital Library for all university members in the campus network and via the library's remote access for many years. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) will now convert the ACM Digital Library to Open Access over the next few years.

Prof. Dr. Rainer Herpers was confirmed in his position as Director of the Department of Informatics and Data Science in January. The historicity of the virtual: Andreas Sieß successfully defends his dissertation
As a key technology of the future, virtual environments have long made a significant contribution to both social transformation and media-cultural progress. The associated discourse of virtuality is also an increasingly relevant topic of research in the humanities and social sciences. Andreas Sieß, postdoc and research assistant in the Department of Engineering and Communication, successfully defended his dissertation in this field on January 24.
