In rendering, we explore the synthesis of realistic or non-photorealistic images that represent 3D models or scenes by simulating or approximating the physics of light. Visualisation uses computer-based, interactive, visual representations of (abstract) data to extend cognition. We conduct basic and applied research projects in all areas of visualisation.

Design, implementation and validation of innovative interaction devices and techniques, especially 3D user interfaces and haptic feedback.

In the field of modelling, we focus on methods and algorithms that facilitate the creation, representation, analysis and processing of 3D models. The aim is to integrate mathematical-physical and numerical principles into the application reality in a problem-solving-oriented manner.

Computer vision captures the natural world using images, image sequences and movies and reconstructs its properties such as shape, lighting and colour distributions.
