Applied learning in the Department of Natural Sciences
At our university, you will learn more than just theory from textbooks. The lectures lead directly to practical exercises, projects and laboratory work, which are also developed in collaboration with companies. You can work on real tasks and put the results into practice. Many of our teaching staff have professional experience and come to us directly from industry. Most modules are taught face-to-face. In some modules, online and hybrid formats can be used for certain tasks or exercises.

Practical phase
No pre-study internship is required for the Applied Natural Sciences degree programmes. You will learn about practical work in the laboratory throughout your degree programme and can then apply the skills you have acquired in a three-month practical phase, for example in industry, at authorities and in research institutions. The practical phase usually takes place in the sixth semester and can also be completed abroad.
💡 You are not alone in your search: you can easily find the right internship with co-operations, job exchanges and personal advice. You choose your own supervisor from among the professors, who will advise and support you during the semester and assess your work.

Laboratories
In the Department of Natural Sciences, you can expect more than just lectures: You will learn in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest technology: From spectrometers and microscopes to innovative analysers. Whether you are investigating the composition of materials, researching biological processes or recreating chemical reactions in the laboratory - you will be actively involved from the very beginning.
