Through academic development, evaluation, accreditation, and curriculum design, we create the conditions for high-quality teaching at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. We support academic staff in continuously enhancing teaching and learning processes in ways that are practical, effective, and future-oriented. Our work addresses key developments such as digitalization, artificial intelligence, inclusion, diversity, and internationalization. In doing so, we help shape the ongoing transformation of higher education and sustainably strengthen the quality of teaching.

We support academic staff from the very beginning of their teaching careers and help them design evidence-informed, impactful, and innovative learning experiences. Future-oriented degree programmes require clear objectives, informed decision-making, and a commitment to continuous quality enhancement. We work closely with the university’s departments in the planning, development, and implementation of curricula and support them in designing study programmes that are academically relevant, competence-oriented, and student-centred.

Evaluating Teaching and Learning
Evaluating Teaching and Learning

Evaluation is a key component of quality assurance and enhancement at H-BRS. Through systematic surveys, feedback processes, and data-informed analyses, we make teaching and learning processes visible and open to reflection. We support academic staff and departments in interpreting results, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing evidence-based measures for enhancing teaching quality.

Teaching Analysis Poll (TAP)
Enhancing Student Participation through TAP

The Teaching Analysis Poll (TAP) is a qualitative feedback method that promotes meaningful dialogue between students and instructors. Through facilitated group discussions, students identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improving teaching and learning processes. TAP can be used at the course level to gain deeper insights into student learning experiences, as well as at programme level to support participatory quality enhancement.

Future Skills
Fostering Future Skills in Teaching and Learning

Through the #future_skills@h-brs initiative, we promote the integration of key future skills across the university’s bachelor's degree programmes. Future skills are cross-disciplinary competencies that prepare students for a rapidly changing professional and societal environment. They are an integral part of the curriculum and can be developed through a variety of teaching and learning formats.
