About the MCLab

The Multimedia Communication Laboratory (MCLab) at the Department of Computer Science of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences in Sankt Augustin, was founded by Prof. Dr Karl Jonas. Together with his team he researches highly topical issues related to computer science.

Part of the recent research areas are topics like Long-Distance WiFi Networks, Software Defined Networking, Home Automation und IT-Security.

The Goals of this problem-oriented research include stopping the digital separation between rural and urban regions, to reduce the complexity of computer networks, find new communication concepts in the field of home automation and to secure the internet of things.

Important cooperation partners of the MCLab are e.g. Fraunhofer and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The Team of the MCLab includes professors of the department of Computer Science, scientific assistans and students of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University.
