On 15 and 16 August 2026, FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference) will once again open its doors at the Sankt Augustin campus of H-BRS. The conference is aimed at developers, those with an interest in IT, students, businesses and anyone with a passion for free software and open source.

Visitors can look forward to a varied programme on both days, featuring talks, workshops and project spaces. Open-source projects will be presenting their work and inviting visitors to engage in discussion. The programme is complemented by an exhibitor directory, the opportunity to sit LPI certification exams, and a social event on Saturday evening.

The talks cover a wide range of topics, including

operating systems,
software development,
system administration,
IT security,
legal issues,
desktop applications,
education and
cloud technologies.

In addition, every year FrOSCon sets specific thematic priorities and addresses current developments and socially relevant issues relating to free software and open source.

FrOSCon 2026 programme

Anyone interested is warmly invited – whether they are already part of the open-source community or would simply like to find out more about it. The 21st FrOSCon at H-BRS offers a varied and extensive programme. There is plenty on offer for our youngest visitors too, encouraging them to get involved.
