Hochschulgesellschaft Bonn-Rhein-Sieg e.V. honors award winners, including those from the field of computer science

This year, Iman Awaad, research assistant at H-BRS, is being honored. The Faßbender Foundation is awarding the prize for her dissertation “Towards Autonomous Object Substitution by Domestic Service Robots,” which Awaad defended at the University of Osnabrück with the grade magna cum laude. The work was developed as a cooperative doctoral project with the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Osnabrück. The doctoral thesis was originally supervised by Prof. Gerhard Kraetzschmar and Prof. Joachim Hertzberg; after Prof. Kraetzschmar's death, Prof. Paul G. Plöger took over the supervision on behalf of H-BRS.

The University Society recognises Awaad's research as an important contribution to the further development of autonomous robot systems and, together with the Department of Computer Science, congratulates her on winning the 2025 sponsorship award.
